Tax due date coming up on 7 February
1 February 2006
The due date for end-of-year tax bills and other payments is 7 February 2006, Inland Revenue reminded taxpayers today.
The due date applies to all individual and business taxpayers, except those who employ tax agents. People represented by tax agents with an extension-of-time arrangement have until 7 April 2006 to pay their end-of-year tax.
Family assistance overpayments and student loan repayments are also due by 7 February.
Payments can be made online - all major banks now have tax payment facilities (please visit making payments for more information). Payments can also be made by cash or cheque at any Westpac branch (remember to take your payment slip), or by posting a cheque to Inland Revenue (attached to your payment slip).
"I urge anyone who may have trouble making payments by 7 February to contact Inland Revenue by 4 February so we can work together to find a solution," says Deputy Commissioner Service Delivery Naomi Ferguson.
Inland Revenue's call centres are open from 8am to 8pm weekdays, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. For personal tax enquiries please call 0800 162 684, for business tax enquiries call 0800 162 685, and for student loan enquiries call 0800 162 689.
