Inland Revenue welcomes Govt3 award wins
9 October 2006

Inland Revenue welcomes the recognition it has received for its efforts in improving the sustainability of its work practices, after winning three out of the eight categories in the 2006 Govt³ Awards.

Govt3 is a voluntary programme co-ordinated by the Ministry for the Environment that aims to help government agencies improve the environmental sustainability of their activities.

The 2006 award winners were announced in Wellington on 9 October. Inland Revenue won the Transport and Behavioural Changes categories and were joint winners with the Ministry of Fisheries in the Leadership category.

"I see these awards as recognition of the efforts of so many people throughout the organisation to tackle the issue of what sustainable development means to Inland Revenue. We're a large organisation with 5800 staff spread over 41 sites, and these awards recognise the hard work that has gone into giving us a great start," says Carolyn Tremain, Deputy Commissioner, People Capabilities and Governance.

Transport projects included a Workplace Travel Plan pilot launched in Takapuna for 600 staff. This plan covers personalised journey planning, car park management, ridesharing, and creating more public transport awareness.
