Tax season underway
16 March 2007
With the end of year tax season now underway, Inland Revenue is reminding taxpayers of when they'll be sending out their forms.
The 2007 income tax timetable
- Rebate claim forms (IR526) are sent out in April to people who claimed a rebate last year for donations, childcare or housekeeper costs. Any taxpayer who has not received a form can request one by visiting www.ird.govt.nz or by calling Inland Revenue's automated telephone service 0800 257 773.
- IR3 income tax returns are sent during April and May to people who receive income from self-employment, rental property, withholding payments or a partnership.
- Summary of earnings information will be sent in May to people who have been sent an IR3, and who also have income from salary, wages or withholding payments.
- Personal tax summaries will be sent in June to salary and wage earners who we think need an end-of-year square-up.
"If you want more information about your tax obligations, please visit www.ird.govt.nz. Inland Revenue is keen to work with taxpayers to make it as easy as possible for them to get all the information they need to meet their tax obligations. You can find information, forms, and tax returns on our website and tax calculations online," says Bob Russell, Deputy Commissioner Service Delivery.
"We'll be advertising online and in community newspapers over the next few weeks to help remind you if there's anything you need to do."
