Part one - Working to achieve Government priorities
Information on our outcomes, KiwiSaver, policy advice to the government and sustainability.
Introduction
We have continued to contribute to the achievement of the priorities through collecting revenue and making social policy payments. We have also played a key role in implementing new programmes such as KiwiSaver, interest-free student loans and sustainability. We have also been heavily involved in important policy initiatives such as the business tax review.
KiwiSaver
The government's voluntary savings initiative, KiwiSaver, started on 1 July 2007.
Advising on government policy
Inland Revenue's Policy Advice Division, working together with The Treasury, advises the government on all aspects of tax policy and on social policy measures that interact with the tax system.
Sustainability
The government is committed to enhancing the sustainability of the government sector. Inland Revenue was one of the first government agencies to be chosen to move towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2012.
