Our outcomes

Our outcomes align with, and contribute to, the achievement of the Government's priorities - see Figure 3.

They describe the results we want and how we can best manage to achieve them - see Figure 4. We also need to incorporate a long-term focus on operating in a sustainable way, for example, planning to reduce our emissions as part of becoming carbon neutral.

Achieving our outcomes

We develop our capability to deliver services and achieve our outcomes by:

  • embedding our "Managing for outcomes framework" into our planning methodology to drive our planning and reporting activities
  • developing organisational and capability strategies[11] to help us focus on improving compliance
  • supplying the tools that our people need to deliver services
  • developing an assessment process for measuring our progress towards achieving our outcomes.

Government priorities Inland Revenue contributes by:
  • Economic transformation
  • National identity
  • providing government with advice, with The Treasury, on the design of the tax system
  • administering tax and social policy legislation efficiently and effectively
  • collecting revenue and payments to fund government programmes.
  • Families - young and old
  • Administering social support programmes to ensure people can participate in society.
