Part three - Strategic overview
This section discusses what Inland Revenue is seeking to achieve and how it is going to go about achieving this. It discusses how we link our initiatives to our outcomes.
Our Outcomes
To achieve our outcomes, we must identify the results we want and set out a plan to achieve them. Inland Revenue's five year business plan, "Our Way Forward," sets out a strategic direction and a desired future.
Our Strategic Direction
The strategic direction is the main part of our planning focus-what we intend to achieve and how we will go about it.
Target and tailor our activities through understanding our customers
We aim to target and tailor our services to meet our customers' needs.
Optimise organisational efficiency and reduce compliance costs over time
The government expects us to provide services for our customers that are effective and efficient, provide value for money and make it easy for them to comply with their obligations.
Create an environment which promotes compliance
The effective administration of New Zealand's tax system relies on voluntary compliance, so our approach aims to make it easy for customers to meet their obligations and access their entitlements and hard for customers to avoid meeting their obligations
Continually invest in our people and the tools to deliver our future outcomes
To improve voluntary compliance our people need to be engaged, professional, responsive and adaptable in delivering services.
