When to use this worksheet
Use this worksheet if your income between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2005 was from salary, wages, benefits or taxable pensions. If you received any other type of income, such as rents or self-employed income, you must file an IR3 individual tax return, see note 1 on page 3 of this worksheet.
What you will need
You will need a summary of earnings (SOE) so you have your income and tax amounts for this worksheet.
You will also need to get details of your interest and dividends from your bank statement or interest certificate.
You can only claim the following expenses:
- A fee paid to someone for completing your tax return
- Commission on interest or dividend income (but not bank fees)
- Interest on money you borrowed to buy shares or to invest, as long as the investment will produce some income that is taxable
- Premiums on loss of earnings insurance, provided that the benefit for the insurance policy is taxable income.
You will also need a touch tone telephone to calculate the rebates and final tax calculations
