Getting family assistance now?

  • The name change won't affect your entitlements. You'll carry on getting the same payments unless your personal situation changes. You don't need to apply for Working for Families Tax Credits.

  • If you get payments weekly or fortnightly
  • In March we'll send you a new notice of entitlement (formerly certificate of entitlement). It will show details of your personal situation and your estimate entitlement for the coming year.
  • If the details are correct you don't need to do anything.
  • If the details are incorrect call us and we can put things right. You may get more money. You may also avoid being overpaid and getting a bill at the end of year.
  • You can use My family details and income online service to check and update your details, including payment frequency, bank account and more.

  • Payments to increase
  • From 1 April 2007, the rate of family tax credit (previously called family support) increases by $10 per child per week. This will happen automatically - there's no need to contact us.

Name changing in stages

  • We are updating our letters, forms, and guides over the next few months. This means that you may continue to see the old names for a while. If this happens you do not need to contact us - we are still phasing the new names in.
