How to make a GST payment through myIR

There are two ways you can make a payment.


Visual: 

Transition to GST account's 'Activity Centre'. Pop-up circle highlights 'Quick Links' tab, pointer pans over to 'File return'.

Audio:

You can make a direct debit payment from your bank account when doing your GST return.


Visual: 

Transition to 'GST Return' screen. Screenshots illustrate the filing process. Pop-up highlights 'Return payment method' then another pop-up circle highlights 'Yes/No' bar.

Complete your return as usual and when you get to the "Return Payment Method" screen select 'Yes' to make a payment.

Or, you can make a payment separate to filing at any other time. Just select 'Make Payment' from the 'Quick Links' list.

In this situation you can pay directly from your bank account by direct debit or with your credit card. To authorise a direct debit to pay your GST you must have sole signatory on the bank account. If you have a joint account you can use this as long as either party can authorise a withdrawal on their own.


Visual:

Transition to 'Account Payment' screen. Pointer checks 'Yes' box to save these payment details for future use. Pop-up circle in the middle of the screen with downward facing arrow. You can choose to save your bank account details saving you time in the future. Remember, when you make a payment outside of filing your return to select a payment type and which period you'd like that payment to apply to.You can also schedule that payment to the due date. Then, agree to authorise Inland Revenue to direct debit your bank account and agree to the Terms and Conditions and it's all done.
