Help IR4 2004 - Overseas income

Use one of the following to convert all overseas income and credits to New Zealand dollars:

  • the mid-month telegraphic buying rates, or
  • contact the overseas section of a trading bank and ask for the exchange rate for the day you received your overseas income.
  • refer to our curency conversion tables published in the TIBs currency conversion pages.

If the income was received from a financial arrangement, refer to Determination G9A or Determination G9B prescribed under section 90 of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

If your overseas income is from a controlled foreign company or foreign investment fund, read the notes to Question 33.

Write the total of all overseas tax paid in Box 17A. Include in Box 17B income before the deduction of any tax. Credit for tax paid overseas will be limited to the amount of New Zealand tax payable on that income.
