Te Putea Whakatupu and Te Wai Māori Trust were established under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004. Te Putea Trust promotes education, training and research relating to fisheries, fishing and fisheries-related activities. Te Wai Māori Trust advances Māori interests in indigenous freshwater fisheries.
