A new theme-based focus for 2011-12
It's in the best interests of every New Zealander that everyone manages their tax responsibilities and social policy entitlements honestly and effectively. Most people meet their obligations however, there are still areas where we need to be proactive.
Here, we show the compliance risk areas and the level of impact these have on revenue collection and the integrity of our tax and social support systems.
Previously, we've looked at patterns of non-compliant behaviour by customer group, eg, individuals, families, small and medium enterprises, employers and so on. But most people don't belong in just one customer group - for example, they may be an individual but also an employer.
This year we've grouped our compliance activities under four key themes:
- Everyone pays and receives the right amount
- We receive the right information at the right time
- Everyone files and pays on time
- We provide confidence and certainty to our customers.
These groupings give our customers a clearer indication of what compliance means for them, across every interaction they have with us.
