Inland Revenue's Policy Advice Division
The Policy Advice Division of Inland Revenue advises the New Zealand Government on all aspects of tax law and reform and on social policy measures that interact with the tax system.
We also draft tax legislation, forecast tax revenues, and negotiate, interpret and maintain New Zealand's network of double tax agreements with other countries.
Public consultation
We focus on producing items that accurately and fairly reflect taxation legislation, and are useful in practical situations. Your input into the process - as perhaps a user of that legislation - is highly valued.
Technical tax information
This information is likely to be of more interest to tax agents, accountants and other tax professionals.
We produce a number of statements and rulings to explain to taxpayers and their agents how taxation laws affect them. We also publish the Tax information bulletin (TIBs) which you can subscribe to and be sent each issue.
Tax legislation
Copies of all New Zealand Acts, Bills and Regulations are available from the legislation.govt.nz website.
