An Order in Council is a notice of an administrative decision issued by the Governor General. The Orders in Council listed here are regulations or legislative orders in relation to and authorised by an existing Act of Parliament.

Student loan scheme - interest rates for 2005–06

The total student loan scheme interest rate for the 2005–06 tax year will remain at 7.0%.

Use-of-money interest rates to rise

The use-of-money interest rates on underpayments and overpayments of tax and duties are to increase in line with current market interest rates.

Student loan scheme - repayment and interest write-off thresholds for the 2004- 05 tax year

The student loan scheme repayment threshold, which sets the income level at which compulsory repayments begin, will increase from its current level of $16,172 to $16,588 for the 2005-06 tax year.

Withholding tax changes for fruit picking contractors

The withholding payment regulations have been amended so that they apply to all fruit picking contractors, whether or not they operate through a company
