Student loan scheme repayment threshold for the 2009-10 tax tear

The student loan scheme repayment threshold, which sets the income level at which compulsory repayments begin for New Zealand-based borrowers, will increase from its current level of $18,148 to $19,084 for the 2009-10 tax year.

Minimum family tax credit amount increased

The Income Tax (Minimum Family Tax Credit) Order 2008, made on 6 October 2008, increases the net income level guaranteed by the minimum family tax credit.

Mortgage diversion

The mortgage diversion regulations provide a facility that allows member contributions1 to be withdrawn from a KiwiSaver scheme and complying superannuation fund and applied towards amounts that are secured by a mortgage over a member's principal residence, if the provider and the mortgagee (bank) choose to participate.

Family Tax Credit income amount increased

The Income Tax (Family Tax Credit) Order 2007, made on 12 November 2007, increases the net income level guaranteed by the family tax credit.
