An Order in Council is a notice of an administrative decision issued by the Governor General. The Orders in Council listed here are regulations or legislative orders in relation to and authorised by an existing Act of Parliament.
Student loan scheme threshold repayment for the 2010 - 11 tax year
The income threshold at which New Zealand-based borrowers must begin repaying their student loans will remain at the current level of $19,084 for the 2010 - 11 tax year.
Minimum family tax credit income amount increased
The Income Tax (Minimum Family Tax Credit) Order 2009, made on 23 November 2009, increases the net income level guaranteed by the minimum family tax credit. The net income level will rise from $20.540 to $20,800 a year from 1 April 2010.
FBT rate for low-interest loans lowered
The prescribed rate used to calculate fringe benefit tax on low-interest employment-related loans has been reduced from 6.41% to 6%.
Forests (Payment of Money) Order 2009
A payment to landowners for permanently protecting native forest with high conservation values on their land can be exempted from income tax if the appropriate Order in Council is made.

Student loan scheme - interest rate for 2009-10
The student loan scheme interest rate for the 2009-10 tax year has been set at 6.8% using the formula adopted in 2006.
