Other help from the Working for Families package
The Working for Families package is designed to make it easier to work and raise a family. It gives more financial support to low and middle-income families.
Help with family costs
The Working for Families package includes the Working for Families Tax Credits. These:
- are paid by us if you are working, or
- can be paid by Work and Income if you get an income-tested benefit.
Help with housing costs
Accommodation supplement
This helps with the costs of your rent, board, mortgage or other essential housing costs.

- Saturday from 8am to 1pm.
Help with childcare costs
Childcare subsidy
This helps with childcare costs for children under 5, or under 6 if you get a child disability allowance for your child.
Out of School Care and Recreation (OSCAR) Subsidy
This helps with the costs of before and after school care and during school holidays for children aged 5 to 13, or up to 18 if you get a child disability allowance for your child.
