As part of this process we're updating the look of our website and myIR secure online services. As well as adding new features to simplify the tax process.

Every few seconds, a circle in the centre of the screen with an icon in the middle of it flips over to reveal a new circle and icon. As this happens, a title below the circle fades in and out. The icons and titles are as follows.

This video will provide an overview of some of the new features available in myIR for individuals.

Visual

The text "We're continuing to make improvements based on customer feedback. Please note some things may change." fades onto the screen, with the word "improvements" in a rough font. The word flips over to reveal "improvements" written in a slightly tidier font, before flipping over again to show it written in the same font as the rest of the sentence. The sentence fades out.

As you begin earning new types of income you can add and manage them through the income tax tile on your myIR homepage.

Sometime between mid-May and July we’ll send you an end-of-year income tax assessment.

This will show you how much you’ve earned, how much tax you’ve paid and your tax calculation for the previous tax year.

$55,000 in the amount earned section is highlighted. The assessment turns into an edit button.

If you notice any missing income or any other mistakes on your assessment, you’ll be able to amend this in myIR.

Some taxpayers will still need to file an IR3 ‘Individual income tax return’ at the end of each tax year.

If you manage your income types in myIR, we’ll let you know if you need to file an IR3 at the end of each tax year.

If you’ve registered for donation tax credits you can now upload your donation receipts through the ‘Donation tax credits’ tile on your myIR homepage.

Scene 16

Visual

The wording in the rectangle is replaced with "+$0.00" in green which quickly rolls over dollar by dollar and stops at "+$373.00."

We’ll process and refund any tax credit owing after the end of the tax year.

Scene 17

Visual

If you’ve not applied for donation tax credits in the past, you’ll need to register through myIR before uploading any donation receipts.

You can now nominate others to act on your behalf through myIR.

A copy of one of the circles flies down towards the GST account tile. As it touches it, the circle and the tile shrink a little before returning the full size. The circle fades, and another circle flies down towards the Income Tax tile before fading. The final circle splits into 2, with one flying towards each tile.

Once nominated, they will be able to access some or all of your accounts through their own myIR.

Scene 21

Visual

The tax tiles fade out to reveal a box with the myIR account selection screen inside. A mouse cursor comes down from the top of the box and clicks on the check boxes beside GST and Income tax. Everything fades to an empty teal screen.
