Guided help articles are meant to help you find your way with most tax situations, but they do not replace tax laws in New Zealand. Depending on your situation, you may want to consult a tax professional.

Am I eligible for paid parental leave?

Paid parental leave (PPL) is an entitlement funded by the Government. We'll pay your entitlements to you if you're an eligible parent or primary carer and you've successfully applied for it.

When you take parental leave or stop working in order to care for your child, PPL helps to cover your loss of income. These payments generally cover up to the first 26 weeks after either a baby is born or a child under the age of 6 arrives in your care.
