If you're a non-parent carer, use this form if you want to stop getting child support payments from 1 of the liable parents. This is often called waiving payments.

You can also use this form to cancel a waiver, which will restart payments for that parent.

Gather your information

You'll need:

  • your IRD number
  • your current address
  • contact details
  • the name of the liable parent the waiver applies to
  • to list which child or children this applies to
  • the date you want the waiver to start.

What happens next

We'll waive the payments from the liable parent named in the form, starting from the date you request.

My responsibilities

If you want to stop getting your child support from both parents, you need to cancel your child support entirely.

Cancel your child support

If you're getting the sole parent rate of benefit or Unsupported Child's Benefit, you cannot cancel child support payments from the 1 parent. You also will not be able to cancel child support entirely.

Check you've included your correct information and any documents we need. Sign the form and send your documents to us at:
