How to make a payment through myIR after filing a return

In this video, you’ll find out how to make a payment through myIR Secure Online Services. We’re continuing to make improvements based on customer feedback so please note some things may change.

You can choose to make a one-off direct debit payment from your bank account or make a payment using your Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card after you’ve submitted your return.

Transition to myIR home page. Pop up circle highlights ‘My Business’ tab. Then pointer selects ‘My business’ button.

To get started, log into myIR and select the ‘My business’ tab.

Transition to myIR subpage. Pop up circle highlights ‘Accounts’ and ‘GST’ tabs. Then pointer selects ‘GST’.

Audio:

Under ‘Accounts’ select the account you want to make a payment for.

Transition to ‘GST’ subpage. Pop up circle highlights ‘Make a payment’ and ‘Periods’ tabs. Then pointer selects ‘make payment’ button.

Audio:

Select ‘Make a payment’ under ‘Periods’ and select payment method.

Transition to ‘Select a payment method’ subpage. Pop up circle highlights ‘One-off direct debit payment’. Then pointer selects ‘One-off direct debit payment’.

To make a one-off direct debit payment, select ‘one-off direct debit payment .


Visual:

Transition to ‘One-off direct debit payment’ subpage. Pop up circle highlights ‘Bank account details’ and ‘Bank details’ and then Pop up circle highlights ‘Name on bank account’. User enters details into these fields. Mouse moves to dates field. Pop up circle highlights ‘yes/no’ button under ‘save these bank details’. Pointer selects ‘yes’. User enters data into bank account name field. User scrolls down screen and selects ‘submit’.

Audio:

Enter the bank account you want to make the payment from. Select the date you want the payment to be debited from your account - this date can be in the future. Remember you can save your bank account details for future use. Confirm the amount to pay. Then select ‘Submit’.


Visual:

Pop up window appears. Pop up circle highlights ‘Terms and conditions’ and then ‘Ok’ button. Pointer selects ‘Ok’ button.

Audio:

You will see a pop up it will ask your permission to authorise the direct debit amount from your account if you agree choose ok.


Visual:

Transition to ‘Confirmation’ subpage. Pop up circle highlights ‘1-3 business days’ body text. Pointer selects ‘Ok’ button.

Audio:

It can take 1-3 working days for your payment to show in your bank account. But don’t worry, payments made on or before the due date won’t incur a late payment penalty. Please note, your bank may charge you a one-off Direct Debit set up fee.

Transition to ‘My business’ page. Pop up circle highlights ‘My Business’ tab and then ‘GST’. Pointer selects ‘GST’ button.

Now…if you want to pay by Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card simply select the ‘My business’ tab and select the account you want to make a payment for.

Transition to ‘GST’ page. Pop up circle highlights ‘Make a payment’ tab Pointer selects ‘Make payment’ button. Transition to ‘Make a payment’ page. Pop up circle highlights ‘Credit card payment’ button. Pointer selects ‘Credit card payment’ button.

Audio:

Select ‘Make a payment’ then select ‘Credit card payment’.


Visual:

Transition to ‘credit card payment’ page. Pop up circle highlights ‘Save credit card details’ then ‘Payment details’ fields.

Audio:

Remember, you can save your debit and credit card details for future use.

Select the date you want the payment to be debited from your credit or debit card - this date can be in the future.

Pop up circle highlights ‘total amount’ field then ‘Payment details’ fields.

Audio:

And confirm the amount to pay. Please note, when paying by credit or debit card a convenience fee of 1.42% applies. This fee is charged by your bank, not by Inland Revenue.

Pop up circle highlights ‘acceptance’ tick box. Pointer selects ‘acceptance’ tick box. Pop up circle highlights ‘Next’ button then pointer selects ‘Next’ button.

Confirm you have supplied information which is true and correct. To do this, check the box.


Visual:

Transitions to ‘Complete payment’ sub page, Pop up circle highlights ‘Complete payment’ button then pointer selects ‘Complete a payment’ button. Transition to ‘Payment Checkout’ page. Pop up circle highlights ‘Submit’ button.

Audio:

Enter your credit or debit card details and select submit to finalise payment.

Transition to teal hold screen, IRD logo fades in and the URL www.ird.govt.nz/mybusiness appears.
