Our contact centres and offices will be closed over the holiday period from 2pm Thursday 24 December 2020 to 8am Tuesday 5 January 2021, when normal hours will resume.
Our 0800 self-service numbers will be unavailable from 2pm Thursday 24 December 2020 to 7am Tuesday 5 January 2021.
myIR Secure Online Services and our websites will be available for customers over the holiday period. If you send us a message in myIR over the holiday period we will not start responding until after we return on Tuesday 5 January 2021 (we aim to respond within 15 working days from this date).
The E-File system and helpdesk will be unavailable from 12pm Friday 25 December 2020 to 8am Sunday 3 January 2021.
Support for families
Working for Families payments
The upcoming Working for Families payments are not affected over the holiday period. Weekly payments will be made on 22 December 2020, 29 December 2020 and 5 January 2021. The fortnightly payment will be made on 29 December 2020.
If you're a credit union customer, these payments will appear in your bank account the day after they're made.
Child support payments
The upcoming child support payments for November 2020 are not affected over the holiday period. If you have an early payment date, the normal payments will be made on 24 December 2020. Otherwise, this payment will be made on 8 January 2021.
Paid parental leave payments
The upcoming paid parental leave payments are not affected over the holiday period. Normal payments will be made on Thursday 24 December 2020 and Thursday 7 January 2021.
The student loan interim repayment normally due on 28 December 2020 is instead due on 15 January 2021.
Provisional tax due dates
Any provisional tax payment normally due on 28 December 2020 is instead due 15 January 2021.
GST due dates
The GST return and payment for the period ending:
- 30 November 2020 is due 15 January 2021
- 31 December 2020 is due 28 January 2021.
Employer due dates
For a pay day on 23 December, the employment information form (EI) is due 18 January 2021.
For pay days between 24 December 2020 and 15 January 2021 (inclusive), the EI is due 19 January 2021.
If you file twice a month, the EI for the period:
- 1 to 15 December 2020 is due 20 January 2021
- 16 to 31 December 2020 is due 29 January 2021.
If you file a paper return after each payday, the due date is 10 working days after the payday. The dates of 25 December 2020 to 15 January 2021 (inclusive) are not considered working days.
For small to medium employers, the payment due date for the period ending:
- 30 November 2020 is 21 December 2020 (as 20 December is a Sunday)
- 31 December 2020 is the normal date of 20 January 2021.
For large employers the date due date for the:
- 1 to 15 December 2020 period is 21 December 2020 (as 20 December is a Sunday)
- 16 to 31 December 2020 period is 15 January 2021.
