Do you get Working for Families or paid parental leave payments?

During the end-of-year holiday period, you’ll get your payments early when payment dates fall on a public holiday.

Working for Families payments

Weekly or fortnightly Working for Families payments expected on Tuesday 26 December or Wednesday 27 December will be paid early.

You’ll get your payment on Friday 22 December or Saturday 23 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.

If you get weekly payments, this means you’ll be paid twice in the week before Christmas.

The next weekly Working for Families payment will also be made early.

The payment you’d expect on Tuesday 2 January or Wednesday 3 January will be paid on Friday 29 December or Saturday 30 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.

NOTE: The next scheduled weekly and fortnightly Working for Families payments will be made as normal on Tuesday 9 January 2024. No payments will be made the week of 2 January.

Paid parental leave payments

Paid parental leave payments expected on Tuesday 2 January or Wednesday 3 January will be paid early.

You’ll get your payment on Friday 29 December or Saturday 30 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.

NOTE: The next scheduled paid parental leave payment will be made as normal on Tuesday 16 January or Wednesday 17 January.

Automatic payments

If you have any automatic payments set up with your bank, please check they will not be affected by the one-off payment change. Also make sure any regular payments you make will not be affected.

Variation in processing dates

You might see that the processing dates shown in myIR are different to the dates we’ve outlined above. However, this does not change the payment dates.

Depending on your bank, the time of day you receive your payment may be different from normal.
