On 18 July 2021, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Communities Damien O’Connor declared a medium-scale adverse event for the West Coast, Tasman, and Marlborough regions.
Heavy and persistent rain has fallen on the affected regions from 16-19 July 2021, causing widespread flooding and significant damage to property and the road networks. A state of emergency has been declared for all three regions.
