End-of-year tax date fast approaching
18 January 2008
Business and individual taxpayers are reminded that end-of-year tax payments are due on 7 February 2008.
The 7 February date applies to end-of-year income tax bills, Working for Families Tax Credits overpayments and Student Loan repayments. It does not apply to businesses or individual taxpayers with tax agents who have an extension of time. Their due date is 7 April 2008.
Payments can be made online, as all major banks have tax payment facilities. Payments can also be made by cash, cheque or eftpos at any Westpac bank, or by posting a cheque to Inland Revenue (attached to a payment slip).
"People who may have trouble paying the amount in full, by 7 February, can contact Inland Revenue before Tuesday 5 February and we can work together to find a solution," said Colin MacDonald, Deputy Commissioner, Business Development and Systems.
More information about the February 7 end-of-year requirements, and payment options, is available at www.ird.govt.nz
