PAYE / KiwiSaver calculator
About this calculator
You can work out how much PAYE should be withheld from wages paid to employees weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly or monthly. You can also calculate claimable employer tax credit (ETC) for KiwiSaver employer contributions. PAYE rates change from 1 October 2008. This calculator has been updated to include the new rates.
Use of this tool does not result in data being submitted to us.
When to use this calculator
Based on the details you give us, you can:
- calculate how much PAYE / KiwiSaver / student loan should be withheld from weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly or monthly wages
- work out the PAYE on cash payments to get the gross figure for the net cash amount
- calculate any required KiwiSaver employee deductions and employer contributions.
If you're an employer, you can also calculate employer tax credit (ETC).
If you've been paid a cash amount, you can work out the PAYE on it and get the gross figure for the net (cash) amount.

What you will need
You will need to know details of the salary / wage for the pay period.
If you're an employer you will need to know if your employee:
- is a KiwiSaver or complying fund member
- is a member of any other superannuation scheme.
