About this form
Use this form to apply for a special tax code so tax is deducted at a rate to suit your individual circumstances. You can also use this form to select a special repayment deduction rate to pay your student loan off faster. A special tax code can only be applied to income that has PAYE deducted but cannot be applied to an income-tested benefit.

When to use this form
A special tax code is useful if your situation is out of the ordinary, such as if you:
- have a second job or other income over and above your main job
- are a beneficiary or receiving ACC and working
- receive an overseas pension that is taxable in New Zealand
- have business losses from a previous year to carry forward but you're earning a salary or wage now
- have a student loan and you want to pay it off faster.
What you will need
You will need:
- your IRD number
- details of your income including PAYE deductions and gross income received
- your employment details
- your NZ Super number if applicable.

After you finish
When you have filled in this application, post it to Inland Revenue. We will work out the rate of deduction and let you know this rate as soon as we have processed your application.
- This rate is based on your estimates and may not be the final amount you owe. Final tax can only be worked out on the actual figures shown when you receive your 2010 personal tax summary or file your income tax return.
- Please tell us if your circumstances change during the year, for example, if your income increases or decreases.
