About this form
This form is for transferring your paid parental leave payments to your spouse or partner, if they're an employee taking parental leave from their job.

When to use this form
You can use this form to transfer your paid parental leave payments to your spouse or partner, either at the time you apply for paid parental leave or, at any time while you're receiving your paid parental leave payments.
Your spouse or partner must also qualify for parental leave from their employer. For information about parental leave call the Department of Labour on 0800 20 90 20.
If you haven't already done so, you will also need to complete a paid parental leave application form:
- Paid parental leave application for an employee (IR880) form, if you're an employee, or a
- Paid parental leave application for a self-employed person (IR888) form, if you're self-employed.
If your spouse or partner is self-employed you need to use a Paid parental leave transfer to a self-employed person (IR889) form, to transfer your paid parental leave payments to them.

What you will need
This form has three sections that must be filled in. You (the applicant) must fill in the first section. Your spouse or partner must fill in the second section and your spouse or partner's employer must fill in the third section.
