Moving towards a carbon neutral public service
Inland Revenue and the five other lead agencies in the Govt3 initiative have implemented plans to reduce carbon emissions further and offset remaining emissions to move towards a carbon neutral public sector.
On 4 April, the Minister for the Environment Trevor Mallard announced the release of the emissions inventories and reduction plans from the Carbon Neutral Public Service programme.
Inland Revenue's goals are to:
- Continue to focus on reduction in waste to landfill
- Reduce travel by 15% through implementation of workplace travel plans and video conferencing technology
- Reduce energy use per fulltime equivalent by 10% by Dec 2012.
