Audio of a phishing scam claiming to be Inland Revenue

New Zealanders are warned about a spate of scam phone callers pretending to be from Inland Revenue and trying to recover unpaid taxes.

Last week Eleanor Young, Customer Services Group Manager, said that recipients of calls are told they are being investigated for historic fraud or evasion, before threatening them with legal action. Our media release Don't fall for phone scammers alleging tax evasion, says Inland Revenue has more information on the current scam.
