7 February payment deadline
2 February 2005
The due date for end-of-year tax bills and other payments is 7 February, Inland Revenue reminded taxpayers today.
The due date applies to all individual and business taxpayers, except those who employ tax agents. People represented by tax agents with an extension of time arrangement have until 7 April to pay their end-of-year tax.
In addition to income tax bills, family assistance overpayments and student loan repayments are due by 7 February.
Payments can be made online - all major banks now have tax payment facilities. Please visit www.ird.govt.nz for further details. Payments can also be made by posting a cheque to Inland Revenue or paying by cash or cheque at any Westpac branch (please remember to take your payment slip).
"Anyone who may have trouble making payments by 7 February are urged to contact Inland Revenue by 5 February so we can work together to find a solution," says Deputy Commissioner Service Delivery Naomi Ferguson.
Inland Revenue's call centres are open from 8am to 8pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. For personal tax enquiries please call 0800 162 684 and for business tax enquiries call 0800 162 685.
