Inland Revenue offers help to flood affected BOP businesses
19 May 2005

With PAYE due tomorrow for many businesses, Inland Revenue is encouraging any employers affected by flooding to contact the department as soon as possible if they are unable to submit their payments on time.

"We appreciate the hardships that events like this bring to people's families, homes, and businesses. If people contact us we can take some of the pressure off and remit overdue penalties that normally apply," says Inland Revenue Service Centre Manager, Kevin Moody.

PAYE is due by the 20th of each month and applies to any business or organisation that employs staff. People who are likely to experience any difficulty should get in touch with their tax agent or Inland Revenue at the earliest opportunity.

Inland Revenue's freephone number for businesses and employers is 0800 377 772.

"We understand that tax isn't the first thing on people's minds in these situations. We want them to know we can help - they just need to call us," says Mr Moody.
