Inland Revenue Appoints Chief Information Officer (IT)
10 June 2005
Inland Revenue today appointed Ross Hughson to the new role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the department.
The appointment reflects the department's commitment to ensuring its technology capability enables the best possible service to taxpayers.
Deputy Commissioner Business Development and Systems, Colin MacDonald says that Inland Revenue is highly dependent upon its technology environment to support revenue collection and payment of entitlements to taxpayers and social support programme customers.
"Technology plays an increasingly important role in the effective delivery of services to the New Zealand public. This newly created role brings all strategic, architectural, development and delivery IT functions under one senior leader."
Mr Hughson joins the department from Westpac where he has been the CIO since 2003. Prior to joining Westpac, Mr Hughson held senior positions with AXA NZ Ltd, including CIO and GM Marketing. Mr Hughson holds a BCA in Computer Science and Operations Research and an MBA from Victoria University.
He will take up the position from July 25 and will report to the Deputy Commissioner Business Development and Systems, Colin MacDonald.
