Inland Revenue signs Hewlett Packard to supply Notebook Computers
2 August 2005
Inland Revenue announced today that it has signed a strategic agreement with Hewlett Packard New Zealand (HP) for the supply and support of Notebook computers. The signing of this agreement concludes a comprehensive evaluation and negotiation process that began with the issue of an open RFP to the market in February 2005.
During this process, Hewlett Packard demonstrated at all stages of the evaluation that it could deliver cost effective technology, support, and delivery solutions to meet the specific requirements of Inland Revenue and address the total cost of ownership of a notebook fleet.
Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioner Business Development and Systems Colin MacDonald says that Inland Revenue is always looking to make it easier for taxpayers to fulfil their obligations.
"One of the many ways we can do this is by improving the mobility of staff, enabling them to be more efficient in their work.
"Working closely with taxpayers is a key strategic objective and advances in information technology provides our staff with greater mobility and flexibility, thereby changing the way Inland Revenue conducts its business.
"This procurement initiative continues the implementation of our Technology Strategy, and will ensure that Inland Revenue has the most appropriate mobile solution to meet current and future business needs."
Notebooks are becoming an increasingly important aspect of Inland Revenue's IT environment and relied on more heavily in day to day operations. Features such as security, recovery solutions, connectivity software, and enterprise manageability are of particular importance in managing a growing notebook fleet.
