2009 media releases
Stay informed about KiwiSaver changes
2 February 2009
People joining KiwiSaver should make sure they are fully informed about the changes coming into effect from 1 April 2009.
The changes, which affect both employers and employees, include dropping the minimum employee contribution to 2% of the employee's salary or wage, and capping compulsory employer contributions at 2%.
Those planning to enrol, and those automatically enrolled by their employer, should be aware of the latest rules before making any decisions.
Some KiwiSaver guides may not yet have been updated to reflect the 1 April 2009 changes.
However, full details can be found at www.ird.govt.nz under "News and updates".
