Our charter is our commitment to ensuring that we have an effective working relationship with the community.
Part one - Setting the scene
Inland Revenue aims to improve the economic and social wellbeing of New Zealanders. Our role of collecting and distributing payments makes a fundamental contribution to Government's priorities and national identity.
Part two - Strategic context
New Zealand needs an effective and efficient tax administration to enable the Government to achieve its priorities. Inland Revenue collects over 85% of core Crown revenue and also delivers a wide range of government programmes that support family incomes and improve access to education.
Part three - Our strategic direction
Inland Revenue operates in a constantly changing environment. Our business plan provides the framework for addressing the many pressure and compliance risks that challenge the integrity of the tax system.
Part four - Forecast departmental financial statements and performance objectives
The forecast financial statements for Inland Revenue and forecast financial schedules to administered accounts - Crown for the year ending 30 June 2008 contained in this report were prepared in accordance with the Public Finance Act 1989.
