Statement of Intent 2007-10: Part three - Our strategic direction

Introduction

We operate in a constantly changing environment. Among the risks and challenges we face are:

  • responding to the growth in volume of customer contacts and the complexity of relationships with them
  • delivering an increased range of services to meet changing customer expectations
  • minimising risks to the revenue base and compliance.

Our business plan (Our Way Forward) provides the framework for addressing the many pressures and compliance risks that challenge the integrity of the tax system. Our overall approach to improving compliance is set out in our strategic direction (see Figure 11). It focuses on understanding our customers and developing targeted and tailored responses to dealing with compliance issues. It also ensures cohesiveness across all of our workstreams.
