Changing your nominated bank account

If you would like to change the bank account details we hold for you, call us on 0800 227 774. In most cases we can change your bank account details over the phone.

In certain circumstances we will ask you to put your new bank details in writing. You can do this by writing a letter or by completing the Change of bank account for child support payments (IR127) form. The letter or form should then be posted or faxed to your nearest Child Support office.

If you need to change your bank account details, but also have other child support enquiries to make, please call us on 0800 221 221.

Do not have a New Zealand bank account?

If you do not have a New Zealand bank account you can nominate a trustee/agent to act on your behalf and receive the payments on your behalf. You will need to contact us on 0800 221 221 to arrange this.

Please note that we are unable to make payments to bank accounts held in countries outside of New Zealand.

Other changes you should tell us about

Please let us know if:

  • you change your address
  • you change your telephone number
  • you change your bank account number
  • you start or stop receiving a Work and Income benefit
  • you are having employer deductions from your wages and you are/have changed employers

  • you have information that the children you pay child support for are no longer in the care of the custodial parent
  • you are now living with a partner/children that need to be accounted for in your living allowance.

You can complete and submit to us the Child support change of circumstances form (IR116) online or call us on 0800 221 221 and let us know straightaway about any changes to your personal situation.
