Paying child support
When you first become liable for child support you will receive a notice of how much to pay. You will have 30 days (from the date the notice is issued) to make this first payment. After this, you will need to pay by the 20th of each month.

How to pay
Paying parents who live in New Zealand have a range of options available for making child support payments. Parents who receive a benefit form Work and Income pay by automatic deductions from their benefit. Other parents can choose from our convenient options of making payments online, automatic payments, posting a cheque or, in person at any Westpac branch.
Overseas payments
Find out the methods of making child support payments from outside New Zealand. Your options include using a bank drafts, personal cheques, telegraphic transfer or a debit or credit card.
