Warning about trick emails

We remind all customers to be very careful about giving out their IRD number and any other personal details.

We are aware emails can circulate which attempt to trick recipients into divulging personal information. These emails are often known as phishing emails.

Inland Revenue will never ask you to forward your personal information by email.

The following advice applies to anyone receiving a suspected phishing email:

  • never click any links within a suspicious email
  • do not reply to the email
  • delete the email from your inbox.

Suspicious emails targeting Inland Revenue customers should be reported to phishing@ird.govt.nz
