Find out about the amnesty on late payment penalties.
If you were overseas on 31 March 2006 and had late payment penalties on your student loan, an amnesty was applied to your loan, whether you had submitted an application or not.
If you applied but didn't keep to the terms of the amnesty, or you didn’t apply, a one off amnesty penalty was added to your loan balance.
