Facing financial difficulty and debt

During times when you may be experiencing financial difficulty or debt, if you feel that you may not be able to meet your obligations, please contact us as soon as possible. Learn more about the range of options available for paying amounts due.

If you are having difficulties meeting your obligations

There are a range of options available for paying amounts due. If you are unable to pay the full amount on time, please contact us as soon as possible. You do not have to wait until the due date for payment has passed.

Penalties and interest

If you know that you will not be able to pay your tax on time or if you currently have debt outstanding, there are a number of options available to you. Learn also about the penalties and interest that may apply for failing to meet tax obligations.

When you can’t pay your debt

When you can’t pay your debt you may become insolvent, which can include bankruptcy. We will work with you to try and avoid this happening, but if we cannot reach agreement we may go to court to resolve this debt. If we’re successful the Insolvency and Trustee Service (ITS) will deal with all ongoing matters.
