Complete this return if you are a company and you need to file an IR4 tax return for the year 2016 (1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016).

When to use this form

If you are a non-active company you do not need to complete an IR4 return.

A non-active company is a company that has:

  • not derived any gross income
  • no deductions
  • not disposed of any assets
  • not been party to any transactions that during the year gave rise to:
    • gross income for any person, or
    • fringe benefits to any employee or any former employee, or
    • a debit in the company's imputation credit account or FDP (foreign dividend payment) account

These companies may be excused from filing tax returns if they complete a Non-active company declaration (IR433) form.

What you will need

You will need:

  • your IRD number
  • rental property address
  • period property was available for renting
  • total rental income on this property
  • any other income
  • any gain or loss on disposal
  • expenses relating to this property
  • depreciation information for building and assets - this will include the:
  • date of purchase
  • cost
  • means of depreciation
  • adjusted tax value, and
  • rate of depreciation
