KiwiSaver is a work-based savings initiative to help New Zealanders save for the future. Many people will join KiwiSaver through their work and their contributions will come straight out of their pay. There will be a range of scheme providers and investment types, giving members a choice in where their savings go.

KiwiSaver is a government initiative involving employers, scheme providers and several government agencies. It's governed by various Acts including the KiwiSaver Act, passed in September 2006.
