Instalment arrangement proposal
About this service
This service lets you send us a proposal to pay any amount(s) that you owe us by instalments.
When to use this service
If you’re unable to pay an amount you owe us in full, use this service to propose a repayment plan regardless of whether the amount you owe is overdue or not yet due.
Note for student loan borrowers
You can't borrow through the Student Loan Scheme if you have $500 or more in default at the time of your application, and even some portion of the amount has been overdue for a year or more. This applies to all new student loan applications and includes all:
- unpaid repayment obligations
- late payment interest
- penalties, and
- amounts under instalment arrangement
regardless of whether you've had a loan before.
What you will need
- your IRD number.
- details of your current financial situation including your weekly "after tax" income.
Although not essential, it would be helpful to have details of the amount(s) you wish to pay off - you can find this on a recent statement or from your myIR online services account.
After you finish
We’ll review your proposal and contact you within three working days to either:
- let you know that we’ve accepted your proposal, or
- ask you for further information to help us make a decision.
