Commissioner asks for patience from customers during industrial action

Commissioner of Inland Revenue Naomi Ferguson is asking customers to be patient and understanding during industrial action tomorrow by PSA members.

About a third of the workforce at Inland Revenue is expected to strike for four hours between 8.30am and 1pm.

Ms Ferguson says Inland Revenue’s online services will be operating as normal during the stoppage. However, customers should only get in touch by phone if their need is urgent.

“We have plans in place to ensure critical work is prioritised, such as making social policy payments on time. However it is possible that there will be some reduction in overall service levels during these stoppages, particularly on our phone lines. I apologise in advance for that.”

Agreements have been reached with the two other unions which represent staff at Inland Revenue, covering more than 1000 staff.

”We remain committed to reaching an agreement with the PSA and getting good outcomes for all our people.”

Some Inland Revenue offices may also be closed for appointments during the stoppage.
