What to do at the end of the tax year (31 March)

The income tax year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Most people who earn salary or wages pay the correct amount of tax and don't need to do anything at the end of the tax year. However if you earn income that has no tax deducted, you’ll need to file an Individual tax return (IR3) and include all your income from 1 April to 31 March.
