We update the Working for Families (WFF) statistics data yearly using Inland Revenue administrative data.

How we organise the data

The 1st tab of the Excel spreadsheet has notes that give important background or technical information. The 2nd tab contains charts included on the website. The 3rd tab has tables on aggregate expenditure, the number of claiming families and the average claim for each credit type since 2001. It also contains information on the number of families by family size since 2020. The 4th tab contains tables on the distribution of family incomes for qualifying families since 2020.

Files to download

The spreadsheet has revisions to the 2020 to 2023 tax years and new data for the 2024 tax year. The data may not match earlier published figures. Only our most up-to-date information is available for download.
