Who is a crypto-asset user?

Crypto-asset users are customers of a Reporting Crypto-Asset Service Provider (RCASP) who use the provider to carry out exchange transactions or transfers involving relevant crypto-assets.

What you need to do

If you’re a crypto-asset user, your provider may ask you for identifying information, and to confirm your tax residency.

You must make sure the information you provide is accurate and up to date.

Penalties may apply if you do not provide the required information when asked, or if you provide false or misleading information.

How we will use your information

We will use this information for tax administration purposes, such as checking that crypto-asset income and gains are correctly reported in income tax returns and that related tax obligations are being met.
