Our system updates were successfully completed over the weekend. myIR, our self‑service phone line, and gateway services are now available.

There are changes in myIR that you should be aware of.

  • Email subscriptions: you can now unsubscribe from all Inland Revenue subscriptions using a single button. This button is below the individual subscription preference checkboxes.
  • Updating your address: confirming your address is now done using a button. Once confirmed, the button turns green with a tick and displays ‘Address has been verified’.
  • Passwords: when updating your password, you can now paste your password into the confirmation field. If the password does not meet the requirements, a single error message will display all issues at once.
  • myIR direct debit mandate: when making an autopay web request, you can now choose an existing direct debit mandate without needing to add it separately. This change does not apply to child support autopay requests.

Unclaimed money

There are changes to how people apply for unclaimed money. You now need a myIR account to apply for unclaimed money for yourself or on behalf of someone else. If you do not have an IRD number, you can contact us to discuss your options. You can still search the unclaimed money list on our website.

Search for and claim unclaimed money

From 1 April 2026, the time limit to access unclaimed money will reduce from 25 years to 20 years. After this time, the money can no longer be accessed.
